Oberlin Community Mural Project - We Are Oberlin

In the summer of 1996, Brenda Grier-Miller and her Summer in the City camp for the youth
of Oberlin created a mural on the back of the bookstore. Today, that mural is in rough shape,
but it is still there. The objectives of this project are to create a community-owned and inspired mural on the back of the Oberlin Bookstore, to build resiliency in our community through pride in our collective
strengths and passions, to demonstrate that the environment, the arts and music are
an important part of the local Oberlin community - not just of the College, to create a
public arts movement in the City of Oberlin, and to inspire young people to participate in
the visual arts and to dream big!
